EITC (du) acquires rights to operate Virgin Mobile brand in UAE
Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), owner of the du brand, acquired the rights to operate Virgin Mobile as a second telecom brand in the UAE. Virgin Mobile is not a separate MVNO/operator; it runs on EITC's existing network, IT and infrastructure, with a dedicated business unit inside EITC handling marketing, sales and customer care, while EITC holds all customer contracts and regulatory obligations under the UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).

EITC licenses Virgin Mobile brand from Virgin Group for UAE operations
Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co (EITC), du's holding company, obtained a licence from Richard Branson's Virgin Group to operate Virgin Mobile-branded consumer mobile services in the UAE for a term of more than five years. Virgin Mobile was set up as a separate business unit within EITC, using EITC's existing network infrastructure, with its financial performance folded into EITC's quarterly results; commercial service launched fully digitally on 5 September 2017.
