Silal acquires majority stake in Al Bakrawe Holding
Silal entered an agreement (Aug 28, 2024; announced Sep 2, 2024) to acquire a majority stake in Al Bakrawe Holding, a UAE fresh produce importer/exporter/distributor (est. 2002, 49,000+ TEUs/year, 550+ suppliers across 50 countries, 650+ customers in 20 markets). Described as Silal's third major acquisition after SAFCO and Sherwood. CEO Salmeen Alameri and Al Bakrawe Group CEO Ammar Bakri were quoted.

Signed at the China International Import Expo 2025 (witnessed by Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed), Silal and Chinese agri-tech firm SVG agreed a USD 38 million investment to build an AI- and robotics-powered vegetable production facility on a 9.8-hectare hub in Al Foah, Al Ain, including the region's first biological insect facility and a fruit/vegetable trading corridor (1,000+ containers/year).
