flydubai is a government-owned low-cost airline headquartered at Dubai International Airport Terminal 2, founded in March 2008 as Dubai Aviation Corporation. It operates a Boeing 737-based fleet (around 94-97 aircraft as of late 2025) to over 130 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe from its Dubai hub. In November 2025 it placed a provisional $24 billion order for 150 Airbus A321neo aircraft, its first-ever Airbus purchase, diversifying beyond its all-Boeing fleet.

Flydubai orders 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft at Dubai Airshow 2025

Flydubai signed for 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft valued at about $13 billion (Dh47.71 billion) at the Dubai Airshow 2025, signed by Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum with Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stephanie Pope; CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith also participated. It followed a 150-aircraft Airbus A321neo order worth $24 billion (Dh88 billion) announced the day before, bringing the airshow's combined two-day order total to 225 aircraft worth roughly $37 billion.

Flydubai and Air Canada announce codeshare partnership

Flydubai and Air Canada announced a codeshare agreement placing Air Canada's code on nine flydubai routes from Dubai (Bahrain, Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah, Muscat, Colombo, Karachi, etc.), pending regulatory approval, plus a broader interline arrangement giving Air Canada passengers access to over 60 additional flydubai destinations, more than 30 of which are unique to flydubai. Announced by CCO Hamad Obaidalla and Air Canada EVP Mark Galardo, with expanded loyalty benefits planned later in 2023.

Flydubai resumes direct flights to Aleppo, Syria

Flydubai resumed direct daily non-stop flights to Aleppo International Airport starting July 20, 2026, after a roughly 14-year hiatus, making Aleppo its second Syrian destination alongside Damascus (which it resumed the previous summer). CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith framed the move as strengthening UAE-Syria economic, cultural and family ties.
