Merger of ADDC and Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC) into TAQA Distribution
TAQA announced it would merge its two customer-facing distribution utilities, Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) and Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC), into a single unified entity and brand, 'TAQA Distribution,' effective on customer bills and branding from January 2025. TRANSCO was simultaneously rebranded TAQA Transmission and SWS Holdings became TAQA Water Solutions as part of the same group-wide rebrand.

AMI/IoT connectivity contract with Datakorum
ADDC and AADC awarded Datakorum a large IoT connectivity contract (connectivity-as-a-service model) to link roughly 80,000 electricity and water smart meters across 70 meter models from 35 manufacturers, using over 50,000 5G/NB-IoT/CAT-M1 gateways plus five years of associated services; deployment ran through 2023 and reduced unbilled energy and water.

AED20 million mosque energy-efficiency MoU with AWQAF
ADDC signed an MoU with the General Authority of Islamic Affairs & Endowments (AWQAF) to invest approximately AED20 million (~$5.44m) to install smart, remotely-monitored thermostats and optimize air-conditioning in 850 mosques (65% of mosques in Abu Dhabi and Al Dhafra), targeting a 20% cut in electricity use, ~26 GWh and ~4,600 tonnes CO2 saved annually. Announced during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
